Magma is extremely pleased to present 'Print With Love', an exclusive exhibition made for Manchester by the highly respected and influential graphic designer Michael C. Place and his design agency Build. Michael C. Place was born in North Yorkshire, England in 1969. He graduated from Newcastle College in 1990, going on to work at Bite It! [London] with Trevor Jackson [Gee Street, Champion records, Stereo MC's etc.], then at The Designers Republic [Sheffield] in 1992 where he worked for 9 years on a large variety of print based projects for the Music [R&S Records, Emigre, Warp Records, Sun Electric etc.] /Advertising & Media industries. On September 17th, 2001 he set up Build [London via Yorkshire, UK] with his wife Nicky. Build specialises in design for print. His work has been featured in numerous design journals [IDEA Magazine, Graphic, Grafik, IdN, Creative Review etc.]. Build recently featured in the Computerlove Offline International Graphic Design exhibition in Brussels as the guest artist. Michael lives and works in Clapham, London.The exhibition will host a wide range of Build's work, including noted 'Dead Formats' series, a project that explores the manufactured detritus we leave in the wake of technological change. Exclusive posters, T-shirts and other products will be available during the show, including the anticipated arrival of Refill Magazine #4 for which Build has designed the cover [the issue includes 20 pages of work and an extensive Q+A, Plus: A1 poster, postcards, stickers, badges] and a rather odd mouse-mat!
